What is an AI agent?

An AI agent does the work,
not just the chat.

An AI agent understands a goal, builds a plan, and acts with the right tools - then keeps running in the background. It's not a chat you have to drive, it's a teammate that moves work forward on its own.

Running the loop
00:00
The concept

Four beats, one result

A chatbot answers, then stops. An agent loops: understand, decide, act, verify - and repeats until the result is real, not promised.

01

Understand the goal

It grasps the intent behind the ask - not just the next word to write.

02

Make a plan

It splits the goal into steps, picks the right tools for each, and decides where to start.

03

Act with tools

It acts: writes, sends, opens, calls. Real actions, not suggestions.

04

Keep monitoring

It watches the result, learns from feedback, and re-runs the loop until "actually done".

What changes everything

Six superpowers, zero babysitting

An agent isn't a smarter prompt - it's a system that keeps working after you close the tab. Here's what makes it able to work alone.
Always on
It runs while you sleep. No tab to keep open, no session to refresh - work continues through the night.
Independent
A goal, and it picks its steps. It doesn't wait for you to type every line.
Cron & schedules
Reports, checks, digests: schedule once, it runs on its own clock.
Browser tool
It opens, clicks, fills, reads. Automation that adapts to real websites.
Memory
It remembers past runs. Every task builds on the previous one.
Tools & APIs
Mail, calendar, files, your integrations - it calls what it needs, when it needs it.
Everyday

The invisible hands

Inbox triage every morning

Each day it sorts, flags the urgent, and drafts replies you approve in one click.

Daily standup, written for you

It reads your tickets and calendar, then posts the standup for you in the team channel.

Competitor watch

Every week it scans sites and pricing, and drops a one-line update in your inbox.

Meeting notes → actions

A raw transcript in; summary, decisions and assigned actions out.

At scale

The real missions

Ship a feature end-to-end

Spec in, merged PR out: code, tests, review, replies to comments included.

Run a support queue

It replies to confident tickets, and escalates the rest with full context.

Growth experiments

It runs the A/Bs, reads cohorts, pauses losers and scales winners.

Outbound pipeline

Researches accounts, drafts, follows up, and books the meetings in your calendar.

Agent vs chatbot

Chatbot or agent? Not the same job.

Chatbot ChatGPT · Claude

  • Answers one prompt, then stops.
  • You drive every step.
  • Amnesia between sessions.
  • Can't act on its own.
  • Dies when the tab closes.
  • Good for a question, not a job.

AI agent Upchat

  • Takes a goal and runs with it.
  • Decides its own steps.
  • Remembers context across runs.
  • Calls tools: browser, files, APIs.
  • Works 24/7, even when you're offline.
  • Built for recurring, real work.

One answers. The other ships.

Connect it to all your tools. Even the ones that don't exist anywhere else yet.

Ads, CRM, support, drive, internal tools. Upchat plugs into 3,000+ tools out of the box, and if the one you need isn't there yet, it finds the documentation, writes its own connector, and connects itself with the API key or credentials you give it.

  • You name the tool, even one built in house.
  • It reads the documentation and builds its own connector.
  • You give it an API key or your credentials, it connects itself.

No connector exists yet. I'm reading its API documentation and building one.

FAQ

Questions about AI agents

Straight answers - no hype, no fake case studies. Upchat is in early access.

What is an AI agent?

An AI agent is software that can pursue a goal over multiple steps: it plans, calls tools (email, CRM, code, ads…), checks results, and continues until the job is done or it needs your approval. Unlike a single chat reply, it owns an outcome.

How is an AI agent different from ChatGPT or a chatbot?

ChatGPT and most chatbots answer in the moment and stop. An agent keeps working across tools and time - with memory of its missions, permissions you define, and a loop that can run while you are away. You still supervise high-impact actions.

What can an AI agent do with my tools?

With the connectors you approve, it can read and update systems you already use - GitHub, Linear, Gmail, HubSpot, Zendesk, Google Ads, Notion, Stripe, and more. Scope is deliberate: only the tools and actions you connect.

Do AI agents run in the background / on a schedule?

Yes. You can kick off a mission on demand, leave an agent monitoring a queue or inbox, or schedule recurring work (daily digests, weekly reports, nightly checks). Background work stays auditable.

Do I need to write prompts or build workflows?

You describe the mission in plain language and set guardrails. The agent proposes a plan; you refine it. No diagram spaghetti required - though power users can still be precise about tools and approval rules.

How is this different from Zapier/Make automation?

Zapier and Make excel at fixed if-this-then-that flows. Agents handle messy, multi-step goals where the path is not fully known in advance - triage, research, drafting, verification - then call the same kinds of apps when needed.

Is Upchat in early access?

Yes. Get early access to get invited as we open capacity. Features, connectors, and pricing will evolve with early teams; we do not invent customer counts or case studies.

Can teams share agents?

That is core to the product vision: agents with shared missions, memory, and tool access so teammates collaborate with the same digital colleague - not a private chat buried in one person’s history.

From theory to practice

What if the work just got done?

Describe the goal. The agent handles the rest. Be among the first to build yours.

No commitment, priority access at launch.
